Significance of P16INK4A hypermethylation gene in primary head/neck and colorectal tumors: it is a specific tissue event? Results of a 3-year GOIM (G…

2006

Background Methylation of the p16 promoter is one of the most frequent mechanisms of gene inactivation; its incidence is extremely variable according to the type of tumor involved. Our purpose was to analyze the hypermethylation of the p16 promoter in laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas (LSCC), salivary gland (SG) tumors and in colorectal cancer (CRC), to detect any possible association with the clinicopathological features and to determine the prognostic significance of the p16 gene in the tumors analyzed. Patients and methods The hypermethylation of the p16 promoter was prospectively analyzed, by MSP, in a consecutive series of 64 locally advanced LSCC patients, in a consecutive series of …

Safety and efficacy of anti-PD-1 inhibitor ABBV-181 in lung and head and neck carcinoma

2019

Abstract Background ABBV-181 is a humanized anti-PD1 monoclonal antibody; dose finding and early safety, PK and pharmacodynamic data have been reported (ESMO18). This report summarizes data from the head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) expansion cohorts in the Ph1 FIH study (NCT03000257). Methods Patients (pts) with previously treated, advanced HNSCC and NSCLC received ABBV-181 IV, 250 mg Q2W or 500 mg Q4W to progression. Response was assessed by RECIST v1.1 and iRECIST. Results As of April 2019, 81 pts were dosed. Table . 1288P n (%) HNSCC n = 41 NSCLC n = 40 Median days on treatment, range 72, 1–407 71, 1–421 Dose: 250 mg/500 mg 31/10 19/21 …

Squamous cell carcinoma related with dental implants. A clinical cases report

2020

One third of all cases of head and neck carcinoma (CA) concern the oral mucosa. The use of dental implants (DI) for dental rehabilitation is widely extended. However, a few studies have reported some cases with neoplasic alterations, among the tissue surrounding implants. Our aim was to analyze possible alterations at the bone-implant interface in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), providing new evidence that could relate or discard a possible link between these factors. We used, for the first time, different techniques, including electron microscopy and histology, to analyze the implant ´s surface and the surrounding tissue from four clinical cases with neoplasic alterations…
